PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE |
Hello Raiders,
Welcome back to a new school year. We hope that everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer break. Summer is a great time to reflect and rejuvenate for the next school year. A change for this school year at Riviera is the allowance of back packs for our students. Our goal is to help students be better prepared to be actively engaged in work while they are in school. A supply list will be added at the end of this letter.
Throughout the school year you will be hearing and learning information about three major initiatives at Riviera Middle School. They are the following:
CHAMP – A proactive and positive approach to classroom management. The program assists schools in creating a safe and positive school environment with emphasis on clarifying expectations.
Character Education – A curriculum that teaches children to judge what is right, care deeply about what is right and do what they believe to be right even in the face of peer pressure.
WICR – Effective teaching with emphasis on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration and Reading Strategies. These strategies work on critical thinking and asking probing questions.
Our goal is to create a safe learning environment where all students will be successful. We will emphasize teaching social skills that enable higher academic functioning and therefore higher academic achievement. Our teachers will help all of our students become principled, caring, knowledgeable and productive members of our society. We want to thank you for choosing Riviera Middle School and we look forward to working with your child.

Riviera Middle School is an established school in a great neighborhood with a rich history of success in academics and extracurricular competition.
Our teachers are highly trained in the best practice strategies and thoroughly motivated to provide exciting learning opportunities for all students.
Riviera Middle School offers your child a comprehensive educational opportunity with many different program options. We have our "Traditional" strand, advanced classes, exceptional student education classes, and two new programs: The Avid program and Riviera's Academy for Engineering. Our school also prides itself in having a nurturing family atmosphere that emphasizes safe learning and a multitude of after-school activities including sports and clubs. Through extracurricular activities our students can learn teambuilding skills and respect for their peers.
In addition, we have a strong business partnership with Catalina Marketing that supports our growing technology program.
